Prospects for the European Football Championship 2004

I fancy Holland.  Partly because they have an attacking tradition, partly because Van Nistelrooy impresses me.  However, Holland are far from a one-man-band, Roy Makaay is being touted for European footballer of the year' and they have strength in all the midfield roles.

Traditionally, Holland have two types of football teams, one side that bickers, and another side that seeks glory.  Let us hope that missing out on the last world cup means we see a Holland that is focussed and hungry for success.

Previous qualification:: 1976, 1980, 1988 (Won), 1996, 2000

Holland were Runners-up in Group 3, and beat Scotland in the play-offs
