Euro 2004 Football - Russia |

Prospects for the European Football Championship 2004The glory days when Russians were picking up the old Nations Cup, seems a long time ago. Splitting up the USSR must have affected the overall team strength. Indeed I think that Russia's slide will continue. It does not bode well that their top scorer amongst the present squad was defender Ignashevich. Having to face the hosts then another warm loving Iberian country does not bode well. Russia footballers will be away home after three games. Qualified in 1960 (Won), 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000 Won in 1960 and were Runners-up in: 1964, 1970, 1988
Russia were runners-up in Group 10, and Beat Wales in their play-off.
Russian Squad for European Football Championship 2004Coach: Georgi Yartsev. Men to watch: Dmitri Boulykin one of the tallest footballers around and Alexander Mostovoi. Goal Keeper
