Prospects for the European Football Championship 2004

Who ever hosts any tournament has a significant advantage which is borne out by past winners.  Indeed Spain won in 1964 when they were hosts.  What history also shows is that ' near-hosts' also do well, for example, when Denmark won in Sweden, and again in 2000 when France won in Belgium. 

Spain have struggled recently and only qualified via the play-offs.  However, do not write them off because they can score goals and the heat will help their short passing game.  Surely they will go forward to the next round.

Qualified in 1960, 1964 (Won), 1968, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1996, 2000.

Spain were runners-up in group Group 6.  Won Play-off against Norway
