Will and Guy are able to bring you these photographs of lightning hitting
the world's tallest tower in March 2009. For as long as half-an-hour
lightning hit the tower and the thunder sounded all over the neighbouring
areas. It was, we have been informed an unforgettable night! Photos
kindly sent to us by Sara Arthur.

Lightning Strike
Height: including antenna and spire - 818m [2,684ft]
In an attempt to capture the lightning strike on film, an oil rig worker
inadvertently snapped a picture of a tornado being illuminated by the bolt.
Amazing and rather scary. Photo kindly sent by John Reeves
Lighting Strike - Words of Wisdom You can listen to thunder after lightning and tell how close you came to getting hit. If you don't hear it you got hit, so never mind. [spoken by a 6year old]
Louise was a little girl who walked daily to and from school. Though the weather one morning was unsettled and clouds were forming, she took her normal stroll to her primary school ½ a
mile away.
As the day passed, the weather became more inclement, the wind whistled stronger and there was some loud thunder and fierce lightning. Louise's mother was concerned that her daughter would be
frightened as she walked home from school. She herself was afraid of an electrical storm and thought that it might harm her child. Following a massive clap of thunder, lightning rent the sky like a fireball
from heaven.
Terrified, Louise's mother got into her car and drove along the route to her child's school. Soon she saw her daughter walking along, but at each flash of lightning, Louise would stop, look up
and smile. One followed another, each with the little girl stopping, looking at the streak of light and smiling.
Finally, her mother called her over to the car and asked, 'Louise darling, what are you
doing?'
A man from the USA suffered shock, cuts and bruises when a lightning
strike hit his home on Florida's Gold Coast. Roy Beverley was filling out
a lottery ticket at his house in the Gold Coast, where he had lived for 35
years, when it was unexpectedly struck by lightning and burst into flames.
The force of the strike caused his windows to blow out, the ceiling of the
lounge and kitchen fell through and the front of the building collapsed. The
force was such that Mr. Beverley was blown clean out of his seat and thrown
across the room.
Later, fire crews pulled him free from the wreck, rescued his family and
put out a small fire. Will and Guy do not know if he won the lottery.
Thunderstorms are common during the summer in Serbia we have learned.

A Funny Lightning Story
¡
As Reggie was approaching mid-life physically he was a mess; not only was
he going bald, but years of office work had given him a large pot belly.
The last straw came when he asked Maria, a woman co-worker out on a date,
and she all but laughed at him. That does it, Reggie decided. I'm going to
start a whole new regimen. Reggie began attending aerobics classes, he
started working out with weights. He changed his diet and he got an
expensive hair transplant. In six months, he was a different man. Again,
Reggie asked Maria out, and this time she accepted.
There he was, all dressed up for the date, looking better than he ever
had. Reggie stood poised to ring the Maria's doorbell, when a bolt of
lightning struck him and knocked him off his feet. As he lay there
dying, he turned his eyes toward the heavens and said, 'Why, God, why now?
After all I've been through, how could you do this to me?'
From up above, there came a deep voice, 'Sorry, Reggie, I didn't not
recognise you.'
